The most common issue we see in relation to the excel document causing problems is it being expanded far beyond the populated rows, resulting in Caseware analysing 1000's upon 1000's of blank rows.
To test if the excel document is at fault, create a blank Caseware file and try importing the trial balance using the same method. If the same issue occurs, check the excel document for blanks rows and delete as necessary.
Potential fix:
- Open the workbook
- Highlight and copy the data into a new workbook
- Save the new workbook.
- Try import the new workbook
